Genealogist's Corner

Hello all,

I would like to provide an update on our progress in pulling together an offer for members of Clan Logan Society International Inc. which has been my focus over the last several months. This offering comes in 3 flavors:

Clan History and Genealogy Page:

This page will provide readers information on our Chiefs, and the history of the Logan name. It will also be the gateway to access the details of who the ancient Logans were and of members who participate in Clan Logan Society International Inc.'s Genealogy Project.

Clan Logan Society International Inc.'s Genealogy Project

Members of Clan Logan Society International, Inc., will be able to ask me to review their family tree. This will include 1-2 weeks of research designed to validate assumptions, recommend some changes, and suggest ways to proceed. The output will be a report that includes a timeline, a narrative about their family and, potentially, how they were impacted by key historical events. In support of this project, our very own President, Kevin Logan, has volunteered his tree as the pilot project. Below, you will find excerpts from the narrative and the timeline:

Tarlton and Jane settled in Greene County, where in 1839, they welcomed twins: your 2nd great-grandfather, William Hood Logan, and Wesley Logan. The Logan family, like most settlers in this area, were farmers. This peaceful life continued until 1862 when Tarlton, along with six of his sons, including William, enrolled as soldiers in the Union Army.

On the 7th and 8th of March, they were involved in a battle that decided the fate of Missouri. Having been pushed into Arkansas, the Confederate Army attacked the Union in Pea Ridge, Arkansas. In this battle, James, Wesley, and William were injured, with Welsey losing his left arm. In support of this offering, we have partnered with a company called TNG, which will allow members to search for various Logan family trees. On the next page is a picture of a factsheet for the subject of the blurb above.

Clan Logan Society's Genealogy Page:

This is designed to be a one stop shop for all of our genealogy records, and will be made available to all members of the Clan Logan Society International Inc. It will cover ancient Logans, our Chiefs, and our cousins who participate in the Genealogy Project. Below is an example of what you can expect. It is a work in progress for our last living chief:
