Edinburgh:
a private history walking tour through Edinburgh castle, st giles' cathedral, and the royal mile

After being picked up from the Dalmahoy Hotel at 09:00, you are transported to Edinburgh city centre where you are taken on a captivating walking tour, immersing yourself in the rich history and charm of Edinburgh’s Old Town.

Begin your adventure on the iconic Royal Mile, a historic thoroughfare brimming with tales of kings, poets, and everyday life from centuries past. Make a stop to visit St Giles’ Cathedral, a stunning example of Gothic architecture, and hear the legends of John Knox and the tumultuous days of the Reformation.

Stroll down Victoria Street, one of Edinburgh’s most picturesque lanes, with its colorful facades and quirky shops said to have inspired the magical world of Harry Potter. Pause in the Grassmarket, once a bustling marketplace and site of public executions, where the dramatic stories of Scotland’s history come to life. You have a couple of hours here to enjoy a spot of lunch.

The highlight of the tour is Edinburgh Castle, perched atop volcanic Castle Rock. Step into this iconic fortress to explore its ancient halls, see the Crown Jewels, and learn about its role in shaping Scotland’s story. Along the way, discover hidden closes, hear eerie tales of the city’s darker side, and enjoy sweeping views that make Edinburgh unforgettable.

You are returned to the Dalmahoy Hotel at the end of the tour, where you arrive at approximately 17:00.
